There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Eagles started one anyway for Kimani Vidal, 30 picks ahead of schedule. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The James steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 4 of 9 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd pick they get an island corner at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Xavier Worthy at Round 2, Pick 18 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at pick No. 53, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board had DJ James higher than No. 97, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mason McCormick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Kamal Hadden at the 170th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Luke McCaffrey in the 171st pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dwight McGlothern at the 172nd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kimani Vidal at pick No. 210 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
