The Raiders spent the pick that matters most on Cam Ward, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Johnson. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Nice patience on Nick Emmanwori, who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Value with a capital V on TreVeyon Henderson in Round 3, Pick 4, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A straight-up fair deal on Omarr Norman-Lott at slot 73, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
The board had Tez Johnson higher than No. 107, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
