The Vikings spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
Ali at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will need Cohen to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 7th pick they get their quarterback of the future. The biggest hole, addressed.
T.J. Tampa at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A tidy little value on Payton Wilson in pick No. 83, a step better than break-even. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Marshawn Kneeland in slot 108 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Javion Cohen at the 128th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kamal Hadden at pick 148 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Layden Robinson at Round 5, Pick 27 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Justin Rogers at No. 164, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
