The board owed the Raiders one, and it paid up: Isaiah Williams, the No. 209 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 7 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Dallas Turner went about where he belonged in the Round 1 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
J.J. McCarthy in the 44th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Christian Haynes in the 77th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Dominick Puni at No. 113 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Somehow Johnny Dixon was still sitting there in Round 5, Pick 11, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid sticker price for Michael Barrett in slot 190, and that is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They barely believed it either: Omar Brown still on the board at pick 221. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Isaiah Williams at pick No. 231 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
