The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Tyrone Tracy Jr., pick No. 220, roughly 67 picks past where he belonged.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They will answer for taking linebacker early while interior defensive lineman and quarterback went begging. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 26 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
The board had Tyler Nubin higher than Round 2, Pick 18, and the safety fell to them anyway. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tidy little value on Edgerrin Cooper in the 53rd overall pick, a step better than break-even. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A surprising call. With interior defensive lineman and quarterback still to address, they spent pick No. 55 on Junior Colson, a linebacker they were not short of.
You do not let a cornerback like Kamari Lassiter reach the 87th pick and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They barely believed it either: Kingsley Suamataia still on the board at pick 92. It fills a real need, too.
Blake Fisher in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A straight-up fair deal on Beaux Limmer at No. 122, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Taking Johnny Wilson in No. 161 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They read the board right and Luke McCaffrey was the payoff at pick 162. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tykee Smith in the 171st pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Somehow Jacob Cowing was still sitting there in pick No. 174, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Grayson Murphy in Round 6, Pick 10. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Good price on Tip Reiman in slot 186, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A quiet steal in the Round 6 slot: Kendall Milton for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. in the 220th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board fumbled Tanner McLachlan all the way to Round 7, Pick 6, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Trevin Wallace slid further than he should have, and the 246th pick is lovely value for the linebacker. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
A tidy bit of business in No. 256, where KT Leveston graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jalen Sundell at the 257th overall pick is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
