Somebody in No. 230 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Vikings sat still while Bru McCoy, the No. 187 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Cooper Beebe and all.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Cooper Beebe at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They let Max Melton come to them and pounced at pick 128. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A clean, defensible pick in the 148th pick with a little surplus value in Jordan Travis. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Tyler Batty in No. 163 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They read the board right and Ainias Smith was the payoff at the 164th overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
By-the-book stuff, Justin Eboigbe at Round 6, Pick 4 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Bru McCoy at pick No. 230 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
