You build a draft on nights like this. Max Melton had no business being available in pick 120, and the Vikings did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 20 they get a disruptor off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Cooper Beebe at pick No. 52 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Circle this one: Max Melton at the 120th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Nothing to complain about; Jack Nelson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Good price on Lathan Ransom in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
BJ Mayes in No. 179 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
They took Jaxson Dart at par in pick 241, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
