You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Vikings did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter. A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want.
They will need Raym to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The Hall Jr. pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and safety is still a hole.

In the 5th pick they get their guy under center for the next decade. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In the 11th overall pick they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get protection for the quarterback. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Taking Michael Hall Jr. in pick No. 105 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Circle this one: Trey Benson at slot 108 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They let Josh Newton come to them and pounced at No. 129. A minor itch, scratched.
Fair-plus on Mohamed Kamara, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. slipping to pick 167 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Walter Rouse at the 169th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value with a capital V on Dwight McGlothern in pick No. 177, a genuine coup. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
They paid sticker price for Jordan Magee in slot 219, and that is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
