The Vikings won the night they stopped Johnson from sliding. Grade: A-.

Somebody in the 97th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Vikings sat still while Kaleb Johnson, the No. 39 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A- to cap it.

They will need Griffith to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

In the end it comes back to Nick Emmanwori, and a haul good enough to build on right away.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.30 · Pick 30 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 17
In pick 30 they get an enforcer at safety at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
R3.33 · Pick 97 · Kaleb Johnson · RB · rank 39
You do not let a running back like Kaleb Johnson reach Round 3, Pick 33 and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.36 · Pick 173 · Dorian Strong · CB · rank 165
They let Dorian Strong come to them and pounced at the Round 5 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
R7.18 · Pick 234 · Thor Griffith · DL · rank 277
Thor Griffith at No. 234 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
