The Vikings torched the value chart for Javon Baker, taking him 30 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Landing Jones that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get juice off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on J.J. McCarthy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Mohamed Kamara at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Will Shipley went about where he belonged in the 130th pick. The roster fit checks out.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Javon Baker this early at pick 148. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
