Every other box got a look, but safety did not. The Vikings will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
The cost of the Randolph Jr. reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Ulofoshio pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Jer'Zhan Newton at par in Round 1, Pick 11, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
J.J. McCarthy in pick 42 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Mohamed Kamara at No. 108 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached a country mile for Keith Randolph Jr. at the Round 4 slot, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Javion Cohen at the 148th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Edefuan Ulofoshio at the 160th overall pick is the proof. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A reasonable price with a little left over, LaDarius Henderson in pick No. 165. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Isaiah Davis at slot 179 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
