The search is over. The Vikings handed the keys to J.J. McCarthy, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
The Rosemy-Jacksaint steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
If McCarthy pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
A conviction pick on J.J. McCarthy at pick 11 that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
In slot 23 they get a potential shutdown corner. Need was not the driver here.
DeWayne Carter at the 108th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 129 with a little surplus value in James Williams. A minor itch, scratched.
They took Hunter Nourzad at par in No. 157, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Javion Cohen at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Value with a capital V on Jared Wiley in the 177th overall pick, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They robbed the room for Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
Frank Gore Jr. in the 232nd overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
