Start where it matters. The Vikings took Michael Penix Jr. to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Landing Sainristil that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
They are betting Jenkins proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get a franchise quarterback. The biggest hole, addressed.
Kris Jenkins in the Round 2 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Blake Fisher. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Khyree Jackson at pick No. 130 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Shemar Turner in Round 5, Pick 12. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Somehow Mike Sainristil was still sitting there in pick 160, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
They took Frank Gore Jr. at par in No. 165, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Ty'Ron Hopper slipping to the 179th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor itch, scratched.
No drama and no debate, Miles Frazier went about where he belonged in pick No. 230. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
