The Vikings spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get the arm they will build around. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No edge and no loss on T'Vondre Sweat in slot 55; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A slide stopped in the 86th pick, with Byron Murphy II worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board had Will Shipley higher than the Round 4 slot, and the running back fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Khyree Jackson at pick 130 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A straight-up fair deal on Keith Randolph Jr. at the 160th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid sticker price for Frank Gore Jr. in No. 165, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A quiet steal in pick No. 179: Jonah Monheim for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
