You could see the war room lean forward. Malik Mustapha at the 190th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Ceaser has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
Jer'Zhan Newton in slot 15 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A tidy bit of business in No. 42, where Bo Nix graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Caelen Carson at pick No. 109 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A minor itch, scratched.
They went early on Nelson Ceaser in the Round 4 slot, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Mason McCormick in the 156th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, Luke McCaffrey at pick 166 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Trevor Keegan slipping to the 179th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They will replay Malik Mustapha at Round 6, Pick 15 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
