The phones were a trap the Vikings kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. A weekend of give and take that grades a C.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through safety. Milton III has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Getting Davis where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
If Jonah Elliss and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Jonah Elliss went about where he belonged in pick No. 52. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They did well to land Blake Corum in the 74th pick, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A tidy bit of business in No. 112, where Tyler Davis graded well above the range. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No edge and no loss on Cedric Gray in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Khyree Jackson in the 131st overall pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They let Nehemiah Pritchett come to them and pounced at slot 149. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
A reach on Joe Milton III in pick 179; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
