Somebody took the Vikings to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
So much rides on Bo Nix that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
However the rest shakes out, Mondon Jr. at that price is a win they earned.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and safety is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Kalen King in the 52nd pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They let Smael Mondon Jr. come to them and pounced at pick No. 120. A minor itch, scratched.
Antwaun Powell-Ryland in slot 161 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, BJ Mayes at the Round 6 slot. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
They read the board right and Omar Speights was the payoff at Round 7, Pick 1. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
