The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Vikings spent their marquee pick on Michael Penix Jr., and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Franklin pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Michael Penix Jr. in pick No. 11 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Troy Franklin at Round 2, Pick 10 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on MarShawn Lloyd at the 108th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Khyree Jackson in No. 128 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
No drama and no debate, Cole Bishop went about where he belonged in slot 148. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Darius Robinson in the 163rd pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nothing to complain about; Keith Randolph Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jonah Monheim slipping to pick 179 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Steele Chambers in Round 7, Pick 10. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
