You can hear the double-takes from here. The Vikings took Edefuan Ulofoshio at pick No. 179, roughly 69 spots before his name belonged. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. That Gray pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 4 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Brenden Rice in the 108th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Steal is underselling it; Braelon Allen at pick 128 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nice patience on Khyree Jackson, who had no business lasting to slot 133. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Nothing to complain about; Jordan Travis went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Mike Sainristil was still sitting there in Round 5, Pick 27, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Gabe Hall this early at slot 164. The roster fit checks out.
Edefuan Ulofoshio in the 179th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Joshua Gray in the Round 7 slot, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
