Every other box got a look, but tight end did not. The Vikings will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 11 they get a bendy edge with upside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No drama and no debate, J.J. McCarthy went about where he belonged in the 42nd pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
By-the-book stuff, Max Melton at the 108th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Jaden Hicks at Round 4, Pick 30 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Moose Muhammad III in slot 148; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Darius Robinson in No. 160 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Justin Rogers at pick 165, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Aki Ogunbiyi in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board had Isaiah Davis higher than pick No. 230, and the running back fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
