The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Vikings spent their marquee pick on Michael Penix Jr., and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Landing Hunt that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Reaching for Jones left real value on the table behind him. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Olumuyiwa Fashanu is a better player than the Round 1 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
In the 23rd overall pick they get their quarterback of the future, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Junior Colson in pick 48 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Christian Mahogany at slot 108 is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
