The trade table was a mismatch, and the Vikings were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
Milton III has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid up for Cooper DeJean at pick No. 51 when waiting would have done the job. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
No edge and no loss on Brandon Dorlus in the 52nd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nothing to complain about; Brenden Rice went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Ashton Gillotte at Round 5, Pick 21 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Joe Milton III at slot 163 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reach for Michael Barrett in the Round 6 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Brevyn Spann-Ford in the 193rd pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Harrell at pick 241, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
