The Vikings looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Joe Milton III at the 109th overall pick regardless, 62 picks early.
The Dixon value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th pick they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value.
They paid sticker price for Kris Jenkins in Round 2, Pick 10, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached into another round for Joe Milton III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A slide stopped in slot 130, with Kris Abrams-Draine worth more than the price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
The board fumbled Johnny Dixon all the way to pick No. 156, and they scooped it up. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.

Gabe Hall at No. 190 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
