The Vikings went off the board in a big way for Taulia Tagovailoa, 73 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 20 they get a long-term starter on the line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They talked themselves into Jordan Travis at No. 52, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value said wait; Brevyn Spann-Ford in pick No. 157 says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Antwaun Powell-Ryland at the 161st overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Taulia Tagovailoa in slot 168, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They liked Zion Nelson enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 7, Pick 19. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached into another round for Marques Cox, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
