The Vikings did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Deontae Lawson fell into the 163rd pick. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
They will replay Xavier Watts at the 97th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jake Majors is a better player than slot 108 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
TreVeyon Henderson at pick No. 130 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jack Bech in No. 138 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They robbed the room for Deontae Lawson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They let Jaeden Roberts come to them and pounced at pick 169. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They barely believed it either: Joshua Gray still on the board at Round 6, Pick 32. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
