Start where it matters. The Vikings took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
If Robinson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 11 they get a long-term answer under center. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Byron Murphy II in slot 42, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They jumped the gun on Darius Robinson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Kamal Hadden at pick 130, value and slot in agreement. A minor itch, scratched.
Javion Cohen at the Round 5 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They took Zion Tupuola-Fetui at par in the 165th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Michael Barrett at No. 179 squarely in line with his ranking. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Taking Isaiah Davis in the 212th pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Zakhari Franklin at slot 230 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Daequan Hardy still on the board at pick No. 245. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
