After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Vikings committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
They will need Williams to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Drake Maye in pick 3 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy little value on Cam Hart in the 108th pick, a step better than break-even. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Justin Eboigbe at slot 129 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid up for Braiden McGregor at pick No. 157 when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
