Somebody in Round 7, Pick 21 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Vikings sat still while Bru McCoy, the No. 190 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The Mondon Jr. reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
They did well to land Rome Odunze in No. 20, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Smael Mondon Jr. in the Round 2 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A big swing on Darius Robinson at Round 4, Pick 20, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jalon Daniels. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Tyler Guyton at the 161st overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Bryson Nesbit at pick No. 168 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They will replay Jack Nelson at pick 179 for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Bru McCoy in slot 241 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
