They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Vikings' quarterback, full stop. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Hicks.
For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.
If Jayden Daniels and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get a passer to set the clock by. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jonah Elliss in the 90th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jaden Hicks in the 108th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Elijah Jones in the Round 4 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Trevor Keegan at No. 157 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They let Dylan Laube come to them and pounced at slot 167. A need, and now a little less of one.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 177, where Marist Liufau graded well above the range. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Value with a capital V on Keith Randolph Jr. in pick 232, a genuine coup. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
