Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Vikings, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.
The Brownlee Jr. pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with wide receiver and tight end still on the board. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
However the rest shakes out, Rosengarten at that price is a win they earned.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 26 they get an island corner at fair value.
They took J.J. McCarthy at par in pick No. 42, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good price on Braden Fiske in Round 2, Pick 24, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Bralen Trice at slot 63 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Will Shipley at the 109th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
A surprising call. With wide receiver and tight end still to address, they spent pick 130 on Jarvis Brownlee Jr., a cornerback they were not short of.
Steal is underselling it; Roger Rosengarten at slot 166 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Sione Vaki is a better player than Round 6, Pick 4 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy little value on Jaylan Ford in No. 203, a step better than break-even. A minor itch, scratched.
