The trade table was a mismatch, and the Vikings were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
Clark at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 30 they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
J.J. McCarthy at the 42nd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Mike Sainristil at pick 88 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A tidy little value on Michael Hall Jr. in pick No. 93, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Blake Fisher in No. 118 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Fair-plus on Justin Eboigbe, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing James Williams in Round 5, Pick 9. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 150 with a little surplus value in Ben Sinnott. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Braelon Allen in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Luke McCaffrey at No. 166 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
De'Corian Clark in slot 227 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
