Somebody in the 251st overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Vikings sat still while Steele Chambers, the No. 191 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
Everything downstream of Bo Nix depends on Bo Nix, and the building knows it. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 28th overall pick they get their quarterback of the future. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They took Chris Braswell at par in pick No. 42, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Leonard Taylor III. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No drama and no debate, Jaylin Simpson went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Fair-plus on Tykee Smith, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Good price on Malik Mustapha in the 156th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Value with a capital V on Dallin Holker in slot 166, a genuine coup. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Anthony Gould at the 179th pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
Delmar Glaze at No. 190 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Taking Tyrice Knight in pick 249 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick 251 is the definition of value, full stop. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
