The phones were a trap the Vikings kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Put together, it is a D-.
The whole projection now runs through Drake Maye; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
The Simpson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get their quarterback of the future. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They paid sticker price for T'Vondre Sweat in the 60th pick, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Brenden Rice in pick 74 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Value with a capital V on Jarrian Jones in the Round 4 slot, a genuine coup. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Javion Cohen at slot 148 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Jaylin Simpson in pick No. 165, plain and simple. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
They took Curtis Jacobs at par in No. 175, which is nothing to complain about. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A straight-up fair deal on Josh Proctor at the 179th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Joshua Cephus at the 230th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
