If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Vikings, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend.
Neyor at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on J.J. McCarthy in slot 42; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy little value on Matt Goncalves in pick No. 108, a step better than break-even. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid sticker price for Ray Davis in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cam Hart in the 128th pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Steal is underselling it; Kamal Hadden at Round 5, Pick 12 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Cole Bishop in the 155th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nothing to complain about; Keith Randolph Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nice patience on Chau Smith-Wade, who had no business lasting to Round 6, Pick 4. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Value with a capital V on Darius Muasau in the 207th overall pick, a genuine coup. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 230 is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
