The Vikings did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Cornelius Johnson fell into pick 241. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Daniels proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 20 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. The biggest hole, addressed.
No edge and no loss on Jonathon Brooks in No. 52; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tyler Davis at the 120th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
A tidy little value on Jonah Monheim in the Round 5 slot, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They read the board right and Mike Sainristil was the payoff at Round 5, Pick 26. A minor itch, scratched.
They reached into another round for JT Daniels, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Tyler Batty in slot 179 lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 241 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
