The search is over. The Vikings handed the keys to Caleb Williams, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C+.
Rosengarten has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. That Davis pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd pick they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
No drama and no debate, Cooper Beebe went about where he belonged in No. 108. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jaylin Simpson at slot 148 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A minor itch, scratched.
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Batty at pick 163, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Justin Eboigbe in the 164th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Roger Rosengarten in Round 6, Pick 4 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 7 slot, where Isaiah Davis graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
