The Vikings spent the pick that matters most on Drake Maye, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
However the rest shakes out, Devonshire at that price is a win they earned. The Cohen pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get the arm they will build around. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They took Braden Fiske at par in the 35th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No edge and no loss on Jalen McMillan in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Erick All at the 129th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Luke McCaffrey at pick 157 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The roster fit checks out.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Trevin Wallace at slot 167. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Javion Cohen at pick No. 177 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tylan Grable in No. 230. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
M.J. Devonshire in slot 232 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
