You can hear the double-takes from here. The Vikings took Zion Logue at the 227th overall pick, roughly 41 spots before his name belonged.
The Wilson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 11 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
A quarterback of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They will replay Roman Wilson at No. 109 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A tidy little value on Sataoa Laumea in Round 4, Pick 30, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Justin Eboigbe in pick 145 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid sticker price for McCallan Castles in slot 157, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ty'Ron Hopper at the 166th pick is the proof. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Jordan Jefferson at the Round 6 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Zion Logue in pick 227, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
