Start where it matters. The Vikings took Bo Nix to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
They are betting Ogunbiyi proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Getting Wilson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Bo Nix in slot 18 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
By-the-book stuff, Byron Murphy II at the 42nd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Edgerrin Cooper in No. 61 is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Value with a capital V on Roman Wilson in the Round 3 slot, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A straight-up fair deal on Cam Hart at Round 4, Pick 30, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Braelon Allen. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No drama and no debate, Grayson Murphy went about where he belonged in the 160th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Aki Ogunbiyi at pick No. 165 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid sticker price for AJ Barner in pick No. 179, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
