Start where it matters. The Vikings took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
That Simpson pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The James pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 9th overall pick they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Byron Murphy II in Round 2, Pick 10 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No edge and no loss on Leonard Taylor III in slot 108; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Beaux Limmer at the 130th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 148 with a little surplus value in Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A tidy little value on Jaylen Wright in pick 160, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steal is underselling it; Jaylin Simpson at pick No. 165 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They took AJ Barner at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A premium they did not need to pay, Jeremy James a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
