The rest of the league will want that one back. Oronde Gadsden II tumbling to the Raiders in the 213th pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 12 they get a three-down runner, and a steal at that.
In pick 24 they get a lockdown presence outside, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Kenneth Grant at the Round 2 slot is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. It fills a real need, too.
Jihaad Campbell in the 37th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid sticker price for Jayden Higgins in No. 68, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Isaiah Bond slid further than he should have, and Round 3, Pick 23 is lovely value for the wide receiver. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nice patience on Andrew Mukuba, who had no business lasting to the 97th overall pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jalen Milroe at pick No. 108 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jordan Phillips in Round 5, Pick 1 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They robbed the room for Terrance Ferguson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
Bhayshul Tuten at slot 180 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board fumbled Oronde Gadsden II all the way to No. 213, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
KeAndre Lambert-Smith in the 215th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
