Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Vikings came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
The Trotter Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on. A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get juice off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They will replay Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 70th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Spencer Rattler at No. 112 is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Mike Sainristil at pick 149 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A slide stopped in pick No. 162, with Jonah Monheim worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Ainias Smith at the 165th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid sticker price for Cody Schrader in pick 182, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
You do not let a tight end like Brevyn Spann-Ford reach pick No. 233 and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
