Clark should have been long gone. The Texans pounced, and earned a B-.

Somebody in slot 239 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while De'Corian Clark, the No. 217 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

Sinnott has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.23 · Pick 23 · Bralen Trice · DE-EDGE · rank 22
In the 23rd overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 57
Kingsley Suamataia at slot 58 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.27 · Pick 90 · McKinnley Jackson · DL · rank 93
A straight-up fair deal on McKinnley Jackson at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.23 · Pick 123 · Max Melton · CB · rank 119
Nothing to complain about; Max Melton went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 145
Ben Sinnott at the 126th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.27 · Pick 163 · Jaylin Simpson · CB · rank 154
They read the board right and Jaylin Simpson was the payoff at pick No. 163. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R7.19 · Pick 239 · De'Corian Clark · WR · rank 217
De'Corian Clark at No. 239 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.27 · Pick 247 · Matthew Jones · OG · rank 262
Matthew Jones at pick 247 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
