The Texans did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Chop Robinson fell into slot 58. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Reaching for Jones left real value on the table behind him.
Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 23 they get a press-man option on the boundary, outstanding value to boot.
Steal is underselling it; Chop Robinson at the 58th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Roman Wilson at the 90th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had Tommy Eichenberg higher than the Round 4 slot, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on James Williams. A minor itch, scratched.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Christian Jones well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No edge and no loss on Cody Schrader in pick No. 239; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Erick All in pick 247 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
