Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders worked the phones like thieves and earned a B.

The Reggie Grimes II selection is the head-turner. The Raiders reached 80 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.17 · Pick 49 · Aeneas Peebles · DT · rank 56
Aeneas Peebles at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
R2.27 · Pick 59 · Shilo Sanders · S · rank 78
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Shilo Sanders. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · Donovan Edwards · RB · rank 134
A wild overpay on Donovan Edwards in pick No. 77, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.27 · Pick 91 · Tyler Baron · DL-EDGE · rank 115
They reached into another round for Tyler Baron, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.13 · Pick 109 · Tory Horton · WR · rank 61
Tory Horton in the 109th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.13 · Pick 141 · Grayson McCall · QB · rank 142
A straight-up fair deal on Grayson McCall at slot 141, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.13 · Pick 173 · Bru McCoy · WR · rank 180
No edge and no loss on Bru McCoy in No. 173; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.28 · Pick 188 · Shawn Murphy · LB · rank 197
They went early on Shawn Murphy in slot 188, and the value did not follow. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R6.30 · Pick 190 · Trikweze Bridges · CB · rank 199
They liked Trikweze Bridges enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 190. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.13 · Pick 205 · Reggie Grimes II · DL-EDGE · rank 285
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Reggie Grimes II well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.28 · Pick 220 · Jack Nelson · OT · rank 220
No drama and no debate, Jack Nelson went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.30 · Pick 222 · Damon Payne Jr. · DL · rank 233
A reach for Damon Payne Jr. in the 222nd pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
