The Raiders spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Matt Goncalves, the No. 114 name on the board, in the 223rd overall pick. It grades a D, and the process earned it.
The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.
They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They are betting Haynes proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 13 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Christian Haynes in Round 2, Pick 12 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A slide stopped in the 113th pick, with Brenden Rice worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid up for Roger Rosengarten at pick 123 when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Circle this one: Mekhi Wingo at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They robbed the room for Jarvis Brownlee Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Dallin Holker at Round 6, Pick 9 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They will replay Anthony Gould at slot 188 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Somehow Matt Goncalves was still sitting there in pick No. 223, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Grayson Murphy in the 229th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
