The Raiders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jason Henderson fell into the 205th overall pick.
They have staked the next five years on Carson Beck, which is the only story that really matters here. The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 13 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
You do not let a cornerback like Travis Hunter reach pick No. 45 and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Evan Stewart at the Round 3 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay Walter Nolen at the 109th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Sebastian Castro in the 141st pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Shemar Turner at pick 173 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 205 is the definition of value, full stop. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
