Thirty-one other rooms let Sebastian Castro slide, and the Raiders were the ones holding the card at No. 173. Highway robbery.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most. The back end got a real overhaul.
The Jake Browning deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 13th pick they get an island corner, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
They barely believed it either: Shedeur Sanders still on the board at the 45th overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They robbed the room for Evan Stewart here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Taking Walter Nolen in pick 109 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Sebastian Castro at the Round 6 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Somehow Collin Oliver was still sitting there in slot 205, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
