Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Raiders were there to profit. Kaimon Rucker, the No. 62 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 173rd overall pick. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The offensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Reaching for Marshall Jr. left real value on the table behind him. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 13th pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Jalen Milroe slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the quarterback. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They reached a country mile for Jason Marshall Jr. at pick 86, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board had cheaper options than Jack Kiser at pick No. 109, and it noticed. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Quinshon Judkins at No. 118 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Sebastian Castro in the 141st overall pick, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Kaimon Rucker at Round 6, Pick 13 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for Bru McCoy in slot 182, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Rylie Mills in Round 7, Pick 13 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
