You could see the war room lean forward. Xavier Restrepo at the 212th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They have staked the next five years on Shedeur Sanders, which is the only story that really matters here. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 2nd pick they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
They robbed the room for Travis Hunter here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Ashton Jeanty in pick No. 67 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Tre Harris in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let a safety like Nick Emmanwori reach pick 103 and blink. They did not. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They will replay Wyatt Milum at the 139th pick for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Steal is underselling it; Jahdae Barron at No. 179 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Xavier Restrepo in the 212th overall pick, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Taking Dylan Fairchild in slot 216 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A linebacker of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 4 is the definition of value, full stop. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
